In the Bluegrass State, there are many locations to experience the splendor of fall, from charming small towns encircled by foliage to hiking paths and cascading waterfalls. Although June is when most people visit Kentucky, it's still highly recommended to go in the fall! Depending on where in the state you go, the fall season offers a breathtaking display of colorful foliage that peaks between mid-October and early November. The best time to see Kentucky's fall foliage is in late October!

Although you might assume that all Southern cuisine is the same, there are actually a lot of distinct regions with unique culinary traditions. Traditional cooking and food preservation methods and recipes vary even within a single state. In Kentucky, for instance, the traditional foods of the Appalachian mountain region differ greatly from those of the western portion of the state. For this reason, unless you are familiar with Appalachian recipes, you cannot fully understand Southern cooking.
