Books I’ve read and enjoyed over time, ranging from strange psychological fiction and thrillers to memoirs and nostalgic YA series. Just a mix of personal favourites across different moods and genres.

Strange/Mystery/Thriller
Books I’ve read that feel strange, unsettling, or psychological in some way. Mostly mystery-style stories with eerie atmospheres, tense storytelling, or things that feel a bit off while reading.
My favourite Uketsu book, I finished it in one day. Weird & unsettling, it feels more like piecing together a mystery than a traditional horror story.
Strange Pictures: A Novel by Uketsu
Similar eerie vibe to Strange Pictures. It’s more about atmosphere and strange details that slowly build tension rather than outright horror.
Strange Houses: Chilling Japanese Mystery
Another strange, visual mystery style book. It has that same “something feels off” feeling throughout.
Strange Buildings: Uketsu
A classic. It’s the kind of book that feels uncomfortable in a good way and is hard to put down once it picks up.
Misery: Stephen King
Short but really effective. The tension builds fast and the ending sits with you after you finish it.
The Mist: Stephen King
Dark and a bit unsettling in a quiet way. More psychological than outright horror, with a lingering kind of unease.
The Extra by Annie Neugebauer
Upcoming book set in the same universe as The Extra
The Other by Annie Neugebauer

If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura
Memoirs & Life Stories
A mix of celebrity memoirs and more emotional or reflective life stories that I found interesting to read.
Personal and reflective. Feels like a snapshot of her life at that time. I got this for my 14th birthday.
Miles To Go: Miley Cyrus
A memoir about her life growing up, her career, and her experiences in the entertainment industry. I liked how personal this felt. It’s basically her telling her own story in her own words, and it doesn’t feel overly polished or edited for image.
Sorry Not Sorry: Naya Rivera
This is Malala’s story about growing up in Pakistan and fighting for girls’ education after surviving an attack. I really loved it because it’s inspiring but also grounded in real life, and it gives a clear look at her perspective and resilience.
I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education
Britney’s memoir about her life, fame, and the years she spent under conservatorship. I loved reading her side of everything because it feels very personal and gives context to so much of what people saw in the media.
A true story about Timothy’s long-term relationship, their life together, and the impact of illness and loss. I loved it because it feels very real and emotional, and it’s written in a very personal, storytelling way.
Holding the Man: Timothy Conigrave
A mix of memoir, essays, and personal stories from Amy Poehler about her life, career, and thoughts on different experiences. I loved it because it’s easy to read, funny in parts, and feels very relaxed and honest.
