Mick Gordon confirms that Eurobass is his go-to virtual bass.
EuroBass III
Let's be honest, there are a LOT of good 8 strings out there, so here's me making the tough decision of choosing one for you for under $1000.
ESP LTD Javier Reyes JR-208 - Pelham Blue
The Industry Standard for midi drums, just mix them manually with a part of the mix on loop so that they fit the song you're working on.
Toontrack Superior Drummer 3
This is what Mick uses for all of his guitar tones on the DOOM 2016 OST
Axe-Fx II XL+ – Fractal Audio Systems
A tad bit on the traditional side? Yes. Will it work for what you need a 7-String for? Also yes.
ESP LTD EC-257 - Black Satin
Synth Sector
As the most used soft-synth in the world, anyone with anyone is gonna be using this a lot.
Serum
This was used for the famous lead from BFG Division.
Korg MS-20 Mini Semi-modular Analog Synthesizer
This will be doing a lot of the annoying noise making, so drown it in reverb to make it a nice dissonant ambience.
ms669 Mini Synth
Mick Gordon's “favorite” synth to use on the game.
Polivoks
A software version of the Formanta's Polivoks synthesizer.
Ivoks Electromusical Synthesizer
A large amount of sampling and other sounds (Especially EuroBass III) is going to be based on some version of Kontakt.
Native Instruments Kontakt 8 Software Sampler and Virtual Synthesizer Platform
Mixing, Mastering & Effects
Mick Gordon's main DAW
Image Line FL Studio All Plugins Edition
Mick uses the full MXXX Pack, But this should be enough for anyone without that budget.
MeldaProduction MXXXCore Ultimate Effects Plug-in
Best for mastering, but still great for anything that needs extremely clean processing.
FabFilter Total Bundle Plug-in Collection
The second of the 3 DAWs that Mick uses.
Ableton Live 12 Suite
Mick hasn't confirmed if he uses this or not, but it was used on Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods by David Levy.
Argent Compressor
Best used after compression on Bass Synths to achieve that effect that enhances the tonality and throatiness, and makes it more rubbery without being too “flubby”.
Tone2 AkustiX
Mick owns the Moogerfooger 107 FreqBox, but I would imagine having all of the pedals would be better than just one.
Moog Moogerfooger Effects Plug-ins
Outboard Gear
A great tool for making just about anything in your mix sound bigger.
500 Series Ladder Filter - Moog Music
This is Mick's main compressor that he used for a lot of things on the DOOM 2016 OST.
