My roommate sounded like a lawnmower at 2 AM. I needed something that would dull the chainsaw noises but still let my phone alarm vibrate through on my pillow. These foam options did exactly that.

Foam wasn't cutting it for me on really loud nights. Silicone and wax mold to your ear instead of expanding inside it, which felt way more comfortable for 8 straight hours.

I got tired of throwing away foam plugs every morning and finding them stuck to my socks. Reusable ones cost more upfront but paid for themselves in about three weeks.

Earplugs alone didn't fix everything. Adding a white noise machine meant I could use lighter earplugs and still not hear my roommate's 5 AM protein shake blender session.

The whole point is hearing YOUR alarm without hearing theirs. I ditched my phone speaker alarm and switched to vibration alarms that only I could feel. Total difference.

Blocking sound was only half the problem. My roommate studied with the desk lamp on until 1 AM. Adding a sleep mask meant I could block light and noise without suffocating under a blanket.

A few small additions tied everything together. Alone they seem random, but combined with earplugs and a white noise machine, they turned my terrible dorm sleep into something close to functional.
