Although Carmel is loathed by a lot of fellow Hoosiers, the city offers a modern and varied dining scene. I’ve lived in Carmel since 2008 and raised our kids here. It has grown and changed a lot but this NY native approves.
With two locations in Carmel (one at Hazel Dell and Main St and one in Clay Terrace) this is a must for brunch. I usually order the omelet of the day or the Cuban Breakfast. And you have to order the cinnamon toast. Trust me.
Hazel Dell (Carmel) - Hours & Location | Café Patachou in IN

Located right on the monon, you won’t find a better burger! The menu is limited but if you’re in the mood for burgers there is no other option in my opinion.

It’s what I call “fancy pizza” but the restaurant is anything but… in a good way. Super casual and suitable for groups, sports teams, families.
Located right on the Monon so you can walk off your pizza. Outdoor dining available.

This is a favorite down in Bloomington and soon to be a favorite in Carmel since opening in 2024. Wings, burgers, tenders, fries. Outside seating available.
BuffaLouie's Carmel: Home - Carmel
My family’s favorite Chinese food! Mostly for takeaway as the seating is super limited. This is a family business and I’m happy to support it. Food is excellent.
King's Garden - Carmel
As a native Long Islander I am super picky about my pizza. While this isn’t quite a NY slice it comes extremely close to it. Thin crust and cheesy. Good stuff.
Clay Terrace - Bella Pizzeria
I frequent the Main St location across from the library and the newer location at Northend on Smoky Row. The coffee is excellent and the service is swift and friendly. Free WiFi for getting some work done if you must.
Indie Coffee Roasters
Carmel’s newest coffee shop is a treat! Beautiful renovation of a historic building. I love how urban it feels. The coffee is excellent. Grab a cup and settle into the cozy bunk vault nook if you can get a seat. There’s a lovely outdoor patio for war...
