There are great for marking your pegs! Sometimes I make a straight item on a round loom so I use this to mark the start. They're also awesome if you're doing a pattern that alternates stiches within the row.

This is a very helpful way to keep track of how many rows you've done. There are free phone apps too, but I usually knit when I want to be off electronics. I use the manual row counter, then add it to the app when I'm done.
