Rom-Coms
My genre of choice lately and thankfully the options on KU are abundant!
Very much enjoy a good Katherine Center book. There hasn't been a book by her that I've read yet that I haven't enjoyed.
The Love Haters: A Novel
I actually read the 3rd book in this series before the others and while it was ok to do it that way (and I liked the 3rd book the best) I would recommend starting with this one.
Part of Your World
Another Abby Jimenez series that has been fantastic.
Say You'll Remember Me
Just finished this one. While there were parts of it I would have liked to have been done differently, it was good enough to have me stick around for book #2.
Memory Lane: Sweet Opposites Attract Romance
This was the first Katherine Center book I read and was left wondering what took me so long to check out her books.
The Bodyguard: A Novel
Read this one after the Bodyguard as there is a small character connection. I did like the male lead of Bodyguard better than the male lead here, but this one was still good.
The Rom-Commers: A Novel
Currently reading, but so far so good!
The Golden Goal: Sweet Rivals to Lovers
Historical Fiction
This includes both historical romance as well as grittier historical fiction.
This is the first book in a wonderful Christian series set around the Orphan Train in the 1850s. Each one very good.
With You Always (Orphan Train Book #1)
Set during the Great Chicago Fire. I hadn't read any books invovling that bit of history when I read this one and found it very interesting.
Into the Whirlwind: Romance of 1871 Fire
Set during slavery with very intriguing characters and relationships.
Yellow Crocus
Based on stories the author's grandmother had told her about her life. Even though I read this book years ago, I still think about several parts of it to this day.
Maude
This is possibly one of my favorite books. It takes place in a circus and is such a heart wrenching captivating story.
The Life She Was Given: Emotional Family Saga
The Life She Was Given turned me on to this author. This is another absolutely heartbreaking story.
What She Left Behind: 1920s Historical Fiction
A captivating Titanic centered novel featuring real people. I found this fun to look up the real history of the Astors after finishing this book.
The Second Mrs. Astor: Titanic Historical Novel
Miscellaneous Genres
I primarily read the genres listed above, but have read and can recommend a few books that don't perfectly fit the sections above. This includes retellings, dystopian, and thriller novels.
If you haven't read this series yet and enjoy dystopian books, I enjoyed it very much when I was in high school.
Divergent Collector's Edition
I can't pass up a well constructed dystopian world and this was a fun series unheard of to me when I stumbled upon on KU.
Configured: Book 1 in the Configured Trilogy
FLEW through this. Not usually my genre, but I could not put it down.
The Housemaid: Addictive Psychological Thriller
Absolutely loved every book in this series and all of the spin off series she has written. Beautifully done fairy tale retellings.
The Four Kingdoms Box Set (6 Books)
This is a retelling of Esther from the Bible. It took me a second to wrap my mind around the fantasy elements as that is not typically what I enjoy reading, but it was very well done and I really liked it and am looking forward to reading more by thi...
