Books I'm reading this summer, as well as books you should read this summer!
There is something about summer and big classic books. This epic tale told through generations of the Trask family is a great one to pick up.
East of Eden
A coming of age story of a young girl born to a white mother and Cherokee father in Appalachia.
Betty
The ultimate summer classic! It is a very quick read too!
The Great Gatsby
A YA coming of age set in an Alabama boarding school. This was one of my favorite books growing up.
Looking for Alaska
I read this series summers ago and think about it all the time. It tells the story of two friends growing up in poverty in Naples.
My Brilliant Friend
A beautiful and profound coming of age story set during summer. If you haven't read this one yet, definitely pick it up this summer. I come back to it every few years and love it more every time.
To Kill a Mockingbird
Another epic, exhilarating classic to work through during the summer months.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Emily Henry is the queen of summer romance. I highly recommend all of her books, but definitely pick this one up before the film comes out!
People We Meet on Vacation
I've added this one to my summer tbr this year! While it seems full of adventure, I know the philosophical bits will need some time to work through.
Gulliver's Travels
Another one on my summer tbr! I love reading Ferrante during the summer and this is one I still haven't picked up yet.
The Lying Life of Adults
A fanscinating portrayal of motherhood and family, following a middle age woman on vacation without her family for the first time.
The Lost Daughter
I loved reading this series through the summer in high school. It is a series I would love to come back to one summer!
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
It couldn't be a Jane Austen summer without mentioning one of her books! I think Persuasion is the most summer-y of all of Jane's books.
