WHAT TO DO
The desire that kicked off this entire trip was to visit The Sheldrick Trust. We opted for a private tour which was an unforgettable experience. We were able to meet some of the elephants we have adopted and that was incredibly heart-warming. The Sheldrick Trust does AMAZING work to return elephants to the wild. Please check them out and consider donating.
Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: Haven for Elephants & Rhinos
The Giraffe Center is very cool! You can give the giraffes treats on the platform built to their height and learn all about the different types of giraffes. The Center is next to the Giraffe Manor hotel, which is the former home of Karen Blixby.
Giraffe Centre
The Nairobi Museum was so much more than I expected. They have docents there that will take you through the museum and explain the history of Nairobi and Africa, the different birds and animals shown there, as well as a small, beautiful garden to stroll at your leisure.
National Museum of Kenya
Karen Blixen lived in Kenya between 1914 and 1931. The museum is well worth the visit and takes about an hour to tour. She is the author of Out of Africa.

Visiting the Masai Village will be a highlight of your trip. They are incredibly willing to share their home and culture.
Masai village Day Tour Experience
We did not climb Mount Kenya but we spoke with many that have and they all said it was an amazing experience!
Climbing Mount Kenya 5 Days Via Chogoria Route
Game drives are a must! Lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras and more! We even spotted a serval cat in the park.
Nairobi National Park Daily Game drives.
Definitely make sure you have a driver! Nairobi is a very large city with large city traffic and all the craziness that goes along with that.

WHERE TO STAY
The Hemingways. A gorgeous 5-Star boutique hotel. We absolutely loved this property. The Deluxe Suites are ground floor with a private terrace. The suites also include a seating area, a large en-suite bath with a tub and walk-in closet.
The Hemingways
I took advantage of the Spa and had a Swedish massage to melt away the kinks from traveling. It was very relaxing.

WHAT TO PACK
Other than your basic packing here are a few things I suggest…
The Travelon bags are anti-theft bags with convenient locks. This shape is my personal favorite although they have many others. I ordered them all and tried them all “on” and found this one fit me the best. It's large enough for the airplane but small enough for daily use.
Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Crossbody Bag
This is my second favorite Travelon bag. It's the perfect size for your phone, glasses and lipstick. Great for tours.
Travelon Anti-Theft Metro Small Crossbody
Excellent set-up for safaris.
12x42 HD Binoculars with Phone Adapter & Tripod
Easy to use and charge. You don't want to be on safari and lose battery in your phone!
Portable Charger with Built-In Cables
You'll want to put your thoughts on paper as you see the majestic animals in the wild. It's such an incredible experience.
Wildlife Notebook Journal, Softcover
Easy to pack hat. Many of the safari vehicles do not have great sun protection so be sure to have a good hat.
