Merrell hiking boots are incredibly comfortable. I would recommend waterproof for this trek.
Women's Hiking Boots
Breathable shirts that are easily layered are great - the weather change dramatically during the hike.
Women's Breathable Long Sleeve Shirt
Comfortable pants are a must! Waterproof is a bonus.
Women's Waterproof Hiking Pants
You'll want to have tall hiking socks. Tucking your pants into the socks helps keep the ants and other bugs out of your boots.
Women's Hiking Socks by Darn Tough
Be sure to pack a lightweight rain jacket.
Women's Rain Jacket
I carried this small bag to keep chap stick and sunglasses with me. Travelon material cannot be cut (anti-theft) so I knew thorns, etc. wouldn't damage it. Also, this converts to a fanny pack if you prefer to wear it that way.
Travelon Small Crossbody Bag
Men's Clothing
Tall socks for tucking your pants into.
Men's Midweight Hiking Sock
Easy to wear, easy to pack.
Men's UVP50+ Sun Protection Long Sleeve Shirt
Chris says these are super comfortable. I have this brand in women's and agree, they are very comfortable.
Men's Hiking Pants. Water resistant.

Meet the woman who started it all, Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, the first Wildlife Veterinarian in Uganda. This book is a must read before your visit. Her and her husbands work is ground breaking and thoughtful. Under her watchful care and leadership the gorilla population has increased and wildlife-human conflict has lessened greatly. Whether you are trekking or not, this book is fascinating.
Walking with Gorillas: African Wildlife Vet
Most lodges provide gaiters but I would definitely check. Gaiters are important because of the terrain.
Leg Gaiters - Men and Women
You are required to wear a face mask when close to the gorillas. These disposable ones are comfortable, easy to wear.
Disposable Face Mask
You'll want good gloves because you may be pulling yourself up the side of a mountain and using trees and vegetation that can have thorns or ants that bite!
Thorn & Puncture Proof Gloves
Collapsible trekking poles are good to have. Most lodges will have walking sticks but the poles are much more comfortable.
