Started with one stalk on my bathroom vanity two years ago. Now I have six arrangements around the house and none of them have ever touched soil.

Once I realized I could snip a pothos vine and root it in water on my windowsill, I needed vessels that didn't look like old jam jars. These actually look intentional.

Not every plant cooperates in water, and I killed a few figuring that out. These are the ones that actually root fast and keep growing without dirt.

When I wanted to go beyond cuttings in jars and actually grow herbs and greens in water, these kits made it stupid simple. No gardening background needed.

Learned the hard way that plain tap water only gets you so far. After a few yellowing bamboo stalks, I started adding nutrients and the difference was immediate.

Plain water in a glass works fine, but adding stones gives the roots something to grip and honestly makes it look like you planned the whole setup.

For the plants I did eventually pot in soil, self-watering containers were the only way I didn't kill them within a month. These bridge the gap between water growing and traditional pots.

My apartment faces north and gets barely any direct sun. Without a grow light, half my water plants were stretching toward the window like they were trying to escape.

I went down a rabbit hole learning which plants root in water, which ones rot, and how to transition cuttings. These books saved me from a lot of trial and error.

Nobody warns you about the algae. After a month, my clear vases looked swampy. Keeping water plants clean is its own small chore, but these make it painless.
