Slugs get a mild electric charge from copper and turn right around. I lined my raised beds last April and watched a slug literally do a U-turn at the edge. Never went back to pellets.

Copper keeps new ones out, but you still need to deal with the ones already living in your soil. These traps caught dozens the first week I set them up.

Slugs climb. I didn't believe it until I watched one scale the side of my 18-inch bed like it was nothing. These physical barriers shut that down.

Wet, acidic soil is basically a slug resort. Adjusting your soil conditions made a bigger difference than I expected, and my plants grew better too.

I was watering in the evening like every gardening blog told me to. Turns out that's basically setting a dinner table for slugs. Switching my routine changed everything.

Some plants genuinely make slugs turn around. Planted a border of these around my beds last year and noticed fewer slime trails within weeks.

You won't believe how many slugs show up after dark until you actually go look. Grabbed a headlamp one night and counted over 40 in a single bed. Knowing what you're dealing with changes your whole strategy.
