Hot glue is a great option for adding small details, furs, ribbons, nylon webbing or other details to your foam. The foam usually needs to be scored to create a more secure bond to the foam.

Contact cement is one of the strongest bonds when it comes to eva foam, and won't be as sensitive to heat as hot glue would. Be sure to use this in a well ventilated area though!

Flexi paint is a great primer for eva foam, and even fabics! It is a highly flexible rubber-like paint that is great for pieces that can move or bend. The clear version is my favorite because I like to mix my own acrylic paints in to match whatever project I'm working on, and makes the painting process much easier.

I use acrylic paint on my foam pieces, and michaels has a large selection of different types depending on your project. You can stick with matte or satin glosses, or they have great metallic colors to choose from as well!

Mod Podge is a great option as a primer or a finish. They come in matte or gloss options depending on what you are working on, and help to keep the paint sealed and protected. Great to help keep small gemstones or detailing attached as well (once they've been glued on)

Did you know you can use those old foam puzzle mats to make armor? When I first started I used those mats for all my foam corsets and armors. While one side is textured, the other side is smooth, and great to work with. plus if you want a cool textured carbon fibre look you can use the textured side as your details!
