✨ Things That Make My ADHD Brain Happy While running around doing errands and exercising (aka my “Dopamine Movement Kit”) ✨ Listen, running around and exercise is great and all—but when you’ve got ADHD, we both know the real workout is staying focused long enough to find your left sneaker. That’s why I’ve made this highly specific, possibly chaotic list of stuff that turns "ugh, a workout" into "heck yes, let's MOVE” or “Yes! Let’s get our errands done today!” 🎧 Headphones that slap so hard I forget I’m working out Noise-cancelling? Yes. Bass boosted? Absolutely. Playing that one song I’ve had on loop for 3 days straight? You already KNOW. If my music doesn’t make me feel like I’m in a movie montage or a dance battle with my past self, I don’t want it. 👟 Shoes that feel like hugs for my feet Bonus points if I can jump, run, pivot, moonwalk, or dramatically storm off during a workout. (They must also be comfy enough to forget I’m wearing them, but stylish enough to stare at mid-rep and say “ooh, cute.”) I wear through shoes quickly because I’m always on the go! 🧃A hyper-specific water bottle that I am irrationally emotionally attached to It has a straw. It fits in my car cupholder. It never leaks. It’s probably covered in stickers. And if I forget it at the gym, I will drive back for it. 🧼 Scented anything (lotion, lip balm, essential oil roller—pick your flavor) Because sometimes you need a smell distraction to get through the last set. Lavender = chill. Citrus = go mode. Peppermint = brain reboot. It’s the little things, y’know? At the same time I also don’t want to be stuck smelling bad smells too cause yuk. 🌀 A highly chaotic workout routine that makes no sense but keeps me engaged Is it yoga? Is it dance cardio? Is it interpretive skipping? No one knows. All I know is I’m moving, I’m sweating, and I’m vibing—and that’s what matters. 👖Leggings or shorts with SO many pockets Not two. Not four. I’m talking EIGHT pockets. I want to carry my phone, keys, snacks, my hopes and dreams, and a tiny emotional support lip balm at all times. So what is the point I’m trying to make? If it’s shiny, cozy, scented, musical, or turns exercise or doing my errands into a game I can "win," it's on the list. Because ADHD doesn’t want a routine. ADHD wants a vibe. And this list? Total dopamine gold. 🧡 Happy brain. Happy body. Let’s go move weird and have fun doing it. 🧡
