Motels can be nothing more than a place to sleep or they can be a place to enhance your travels.
Most of the time I'm not staying in 4 star hotels, but once in a while I get lucky and hit some little town during the off season. They are nice places.
Marriott
Baymont is my standard middle of the road motel. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. I still like them.
Baymont by Wyndham - Comfortable Hotel Rooms
Ok, these used to at the bottom of my list, And I still avoid them in large cities, but they have upped thier game the past few years.
Motel 6
Another chain that decide they want a better kind of customer. I used to stay on a regular basis, but the price increases have forced me out of most locations. Still, good when I can find a deal.
La Quinta by Wyndham - Book Hotel Discount Rates & Deals
Like Motel 6, they can be good and they can be bad. I still spend a lot of time staying here because of the price.
Super 8 by Wyndham Hotels | Book Now for Deals & Discounts
I don't think I've stayed at a bad Hilton; the brand is class all the way across. I don't stay as often as I'd like, but I do find the occasional bargain.
Hilton Hotels and Resorts - An Iconic Brand
I've stayed a lot of Red Roof Inns. Usually cheap and often older protieries, but they be nice and some even have breakfasts
Red Roof Inn
This is a budget chain that feels a bit more like a hotel. Rooms are modern and efficiently designed. As part of the massive Wyndham family, you can earn and redeem loyalty points.
Microtel by Wyndham - Hotel Rooms, Suites, & Deals
Budget-friendly that often a little better than I expect.
