items These shows are mostly old but all gold. I will certainly watch them all again at some point. But if I ever develop amnesia, this would be the bright side.
It has loud and subtle themes. You will feel all the feels but you cannot be bored because, best mafia tv series ever. Wonderful actors. A storyline that could go on forever but they knew not to do that to us. A truly great show.
The Sopranos (TV Series 1999–2007)
Listen, I saw it late as well. Gritty, police, drugs, real life stuff. Old but gold!
The Wire (TV Series 2002–2008)
Again, no one told me about this one too. I found it and saw it after the fact but goodness! These are the ones that educate and entertain. Prison will take on a new meaning after Oz.
Oz (TV Series 1997–2003)
Oh I love it when the emotions are jumping out the screen. When you cannot help but get involved, pick a side and then switch sides. A rollercoaster, this one.
The Affair (TV Series 2014–2019)
Why is there no show like this one?? Very much in its lane but if you’re like me and you know the British shows are in a league of their own, this one is for you. You will cringe, you will see regular people and you will believe every moment of it.
Fleabag (TV Series 2016–2019)
I just finished this one (why was I so late to the party?). A gritty, credible, entertaining show. You know it’s real when you pick up Jamaican lingo and ting.
Watch Top Boy
These shows are classics for a reason. They make sense even if they are set in a time that makes no sense to you. An evergreen show.
Boardwalk Empire (TV Series 2010–2014)
So you started the first season and gave up, decided it was overhyped. You are one of us, you just need to keep going. You will be obsessed in the second season for sure. A truly timeless, hilarious, emotionally satisfying show.
The Office (TV Series 2005–2013)
They will tell you it’s overhyped. They will be wrong. A masterful performance by all the actors, gripping story so good the spin off will make my list of favourite shows. So good they made a movie because we missed them so much. A great show.
Breaking Bad (TV Series 2008–2013)
Arguably the show of my generation. If you haven’t seen it, it’s probably a choice at this point. A wonderful story, with great actors and a world we all got to know and love.
Game of Thrones (TV Series 2011–2019)
I saw this during the pandemic. What a beautiful, beautifully told story! I truly wish I could watch it again for the first time.
Gilmore Girls (TV Series 2000–2007)
Now this is TV! Great story, each season was well thought out, cop show but still surprised you every season.
Line of Duty (TV Series 2012–2026)
Again, no one shared this one with me. I took a chance and now I trawl the internet hoping to find something that gets me like this. Truly amazing show.
The Leftovers (TV Series 2014–2017)
Twisted show but what a performance! I wish I could binge watch it all over again for the first time.

You should watch the Legend that is Don Draper! It’s such a good show because it was so perfectly cast and everyone gave the performance of a lifetime. Will rewatch for sure!
