Let’s talk water-based primers and foundations, what’s the benefits and which ones are they? 💦 These products have water as their primary base ingredient so tend to have a more lightweight, liquid texture. As they are very hydrating on the skin they are perfect for a fresh-faced, dewy look. These work very well for sensitive and combination skin as it offers a more breathable base to work with but also fantastic hydration for dry skin. Water-based products do breakdown quicker than silicone-based ones so more frequent touch ups may be required. It’s best to pair a water-based primer with a water-based foundation as this will prevent your makeup from piling or separating. Want to check if your products are water-based? Check for “aqua” or “water” as the first ingredient, followed by other ingredients such as glycerin or emollients. A water-based product may still contain a silicone product further down the ingredient list to help with a particular factor, however will still be considered water-based as it isn’t a primary ingredient.
