90s/Early 2000s Semi Spooky Movies to Watch this October🎃🍿
There’s something special about Halloween movies from the 90s and early 2000s, a cozy mix of spooky and sweet. These are my go-tos when I want a nostalgic October night in: lights low, thick blanket, pumpkin candle burning, and popcorn ready. From fr...
A true Halloween classic that never gets old, one of my favorites honestly! The Sanderson sisters bring witchy chaos and humor to Salem in this nostalgic favorite. I rewatch it at least every year. I think it’s spooky enough for the season but still ...
Hocus Pocus (1993)
Casper rivals for the number 1 spot for me. I've just finished watching this last night for the millionth time. It's the story of a friendly ghost and a lonely girl makes for the perfect cozy fall watch. Bonus: the 90s CGI charm still totally holds u...
Casper (1995)
Omg! Halloween town. I completely forgot about it until I started thinking of kids movies of the past. Disney Channel Original Movies at its best! A fun, colorful world where witches and creatures coexist. Marnie Piper learns she’s part of a magical ...
Halloweentown (TV Movie 1998)
This is a dark humor with gothic aesthetics, but still family-friendly movie. Every character steals the show, especially Wednesday. Perfect if you love your spooky with a little sass.
The Addams Family (1991)
Is it a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? This is an easy, fun family debate after watching. Either choice, it’s a Tim Burton masterpiece full of gorgeous animation, eerie charm, and unforgettable songs. I was surprised when I remembered them dur...
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
Here's slightly newer, underrated classic. It may be just a bit spookier than the others, but still kid-appropriate. The animation and suspense make it perfect for older kids or anyone who loves that Halloween thrill without going into full horror mo...
Monster House (2006)
This one actually gave a few of us 90s kids a couple good scares! Another Disney Channel Original Movie that leans into the weird and creepy but keeps things fun. Criminally underrated. Some of the girlies had the biggest crushes on Larry Houdini, Da...
Don't Look Under the Bed (TV Movie 1999)
You can never go wrong with any movie involving Tia and Tamera Mowry. The twin witches discover their powers and we go along with them, on the nostalgic, magical, and heartwarming adventure. Perfect for a cozy October night in.
Twitches (TV Movie 2005)
This live-action version of Scooby Doo is goofy in the best way. Perfect if you want something lighthearted but still spooky-season approved.
Scooby-Doo (2002)
Okay, okay, technically late 2000s but too good not to include in the list. The stop-motion visuals and eerie “other world” vibe make it one of the best semi-spooky picks that both kids and adults love. A big inspiration for Halloween costumes each y...
Coraline (2009)
