These were a need! Now yes the hospital gave me extra of the throw away undies and you could use underwear you already have however these are soft & stretchy and you don't have to worry about ruining them. These can fit all the big pads/ice packs...

Your hospital like mine may give you some ice packs and those do work. What I liked more about these is the ice pack has stick like a pad would so it stays in place better and I found the cold lasted a little longer.

Always consult with your doctor before taking any medication post partum. For pain management I was put on a regiment of alternating Tylenol and Motrin. I took this for the first week after delivery.
