In 1813, Newark (now Niagara-on-the-Lake) was on fire. Turncoats(British soldiers who had joined the American side of the war) had torched their own town. Those loyal to the British were ordered to evacuate, but a man named Captain Swayze refused  to leave until he was reunited with the woman he loved. He raced to a wine cellar and hid in an empty wine barrel, and was killed when enemy forces followed, stabbing each barrel.
 The wine cellar where he died is now the basement of the Olde Angel I...
