As a mom, I love the excitement that buzzes around our house during the holidays – and I'm not just talking about the stretch from Halloween to New Years. In our house, our kids are excited for Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, and more! I almost feel like they've subscribed to one of those “all holiday” lists. Today, I was reminded that it's National Cheese Lover's Day and National Penguin Day.
I'm not sure how those are celebrated, but check out this list for some pointers on how to celebrate Valentine's Day in such a way that your littles will walk a little taller, feeling all that extra L-O-V-E!!

With this epic day of love, make sure to show a little extra to those tiny people that stole your heart the second you met them!
Here are some tried and true ways to make them feel extra special this Valentine’s Day!!
One of my favorite things to do, leading up to Valentine’s Day is to write 14 things that I love most about each of my kids. They can be as simple as “you are so kind” or “you are helpful”. For older kids, you can do movie quotes, comparisons (“I lov...

Heart Cookie Cutter Set, Multi-Color, 5 Pieces, Plastic Material, Way to Celebrate
Don't let those broken, worn down crayons break your heart! Turn them into the coolest crayons! The best part? These crayons are perfect for little hands! Peel those wrappers off, place the crayons in the silicone mold, and bake until they're melted down. Remove from the oven using caution – the wax will be HOT!! Let them cool, pop them out, and set them out for your littles! They'll surely feel a little extra loved!

Who doesn't feel extra special when they receive a hand written note?
Write your kids a special Valentine telling them why they're so special to you and how much you love them!
Use fun stationary or dress it up with some fun stickers!
Valentine's Day Stickers
With older kids you need to create “better” surprises. Don't get stumped this year! Write a note to your special “big” little and show them how much they mean to you.
These precut heart shaped puzzles are perfect if you're not sure you could pull off a DIY puzzle (which you totally could)!!
Start by using a sharpie in red, pink, purple, or their favorite color. Write a love note to your kiddo and maybe include a funny movie line or special quote that the two of you love! Break the puzzle up into pieces and place it in a small box or baggie.
They may not admit it, but they will feel extra special and definitely loved!!
Piece of Your Heart
One of my friends started a tradition where her family orders a heart shaped pizza for Valentine's Day dinner. I love this idea!!
First, it's simple! As a working outside of the home mom, keeping up with the kid's schedules and ensuring dinner happens feels near impossible! Ordering pizza is cool – but why not take it up a notch?
I live in Western PA and in our region, there are a handful of restaurants that will offer heart-shaped pizza and it's just perfect! Don't forget to plan ahead, though. Waiting til 4pm for a reasonable pickup time may be a little risky!!
