Fairy Tales/Fables
Lyrical, magical, and fantastical.
This book helped me get out of a years long reading slump. It is a hopeful fairytale-like story about love and family. Targeted towards teens and adults.
The Girl Who Drank the Moon (Newbery Medal Winner)
My personal favorite from Gail Carson Levine.
Fairest|Paperback
This is probably Gail Carson Levine's most popular book, and for good reason! It tells the story of Ella, who is blessed (cursed) with the gift of obedience by a fairy. It's a charming book and watching Ella navigate the world the world, and her curs...

The Giver (Newbery Medal Winner)|Paperback
This is the start to my favorite series from Neal Shusterman! Unwanted children between 13 and 18 years old are forced to undergo a procedure called "unwinding." It has a unique premise and is pretty horrifying to imagine a world like this, but it's ...
Unwind (Unwind Dystology Series #1)|Paperback
It's an amazing series that kept me guessing at every turn. Be aware that the main character is illiterate, and the narration is written in his dialect, so that might take some getting used to (basically only first book). Stick with it, and it'll be ...
The Knife of Never Letting Go (Reissue with bonus short story) (Chaos Walking Series #1)|Paperback
Fantasy
Wonderous and magical.
Tells the origin of the wizard we would come to know as Merlin.
The Lost Years (Merlin Saga Series #1)|Paperback
A whimsical adventure about a boy's discovery who and what he is. The series is fun and features many interesting characters and creatures. I haven't read any other series as imaginative and creative as this one. Arc 1 begins with Twig's story.
Beyond the Deepwoods (The Edge Chronicles Series #1)|Paperback
Adult fiction that actually features an adult cast. The characters all have their own unique quirks, backstories, and motivations. The plot carries a thread of mystery, and the worldbuilding is great.
Focuses on romance. The two leads are extremely loveable. Complex characters and amazing worldbuilding. Be aware, though: this book deals with heavy topics.
