Take the Coast Startlight train from Los Angeles Union Station to Seattle, Washington. This is one of my dream vacations since moving to California in December of 2013 and I added all the things that are a must in Seattle too.

For this kind of scenic trip, you can only book the Pacific Surfliner Train.
Book your trip through the Coast Starlight train. It operates daily with it leaving around 9:50 in the morning.

I’ve been here before and it is a gorgeous place to explore. You get glimpse of the beaches and some ocean views.
Stay In Simi Valley & Spend The Day Outdoors - Visit Simi Valley
You’ll pass the tall, foreboding walls of the California Men’s Colony, a prison and can see the courtyard in the middle.

You’ll actually get to see a lot of greenery and farm lands if you’re in the right spot of the train.

If you wake up early enough the next morning, you catch the sunrise over Mt. Shasta
Visit Mount Shasta
If the train is making good timing, you be in Oregon entering the Cascade Mountains.
One of the states I always wanted to visit and the train goes through a few scenic areas.
