2 Step Daily Facial Cleansing Routine

I have found over the years that cleansing your face is even more important than moisturizing, because it prepares your skin to properly receive and utilize the moisturizer.  This routine starts with my cleansing steps to prepare my skin for moisturizing. This list is for women who have what you might call maturing skin.

Step 1- My first step in my facial routine is making sure my face is clean but doing it as gently as possible.  These cloths can be used every day and will do a thorough job of removing dirt and makeup from your face.  You can keep some in a plastic pouch in your purse in case you need them on the go.

Step 2A: This exfoliating cleanser is a little pricey but well worth it.  My skin started to look dull as I got older, not as bright.  This polisher brought some of that glow back.  This is not for you if you have very sensitive skin.  I would recommend using this only 1-2 times a week and using a milder facial cleanser the other 5-6 days per week.

Step 2B-For those 5-6 days that you are not using the IL MAKIAGE polisher, this gentle cleansing face wash will work.  It only takes a little to create a good amount of cleansing foam.  Its for people with sensitive skin, otherwise I would say you can use one of their other foaming cleansers like Olay Total Effects Revitalizing Foam.

Step 3 Must Use Moisturizers

After cleansing, moisturizing is a must.  I use separate day and night moisturizers.  Both are anti-aging formulas. I also use a moisturizer gel that's specifically for the sensitive area around my eyes.

The 3rd step in my daily facial routine is a moisturizer.  This one has Hyaluronic Acid which makes my skin feel really soft.  It is very noticeable.  Use it as your DAY moisturizer.  I avoid using it around my eyes.

This cream is for the area around the eyes (upper lid and undereye area). It also contains hyaluronic acid.  Be careful not to get it in your eyes. Helps with under-eye puffiness which I really suffer from.  Use it in the morning and before bed at night.

For my night routine I use the Olay Daily Cleansing towels again, and then this night moisturizer.  This is for anyone who is starting to see small lines or wrinkles around their eyes and mouth.

I typically use a facial mask once every 2 weeks or at least once a month to give my skin a deep moisturizing.  This one by Garnier offers 4 different mask ingredients to choose from: green tea, pomegranate extract, lavender oil, and chamomile.  Use these when you want to give your skin a moisture boost.  (My favorite is the lavender oil).

Bath and Shower Cleansing and Moisturizing Essentials

Just like with my facial routine, for my body routine I like to start with a good cleansing product, like a body scrub, followed by a body wash and then a moisturizer.  Here are my recommendations for those 3 types of products, plus products I like to add to my bath water.  These are for people who like to indulge in their bathing/shower routine.

I first discovered this product at Kohl's when I decided to try it on a whim. A body scrub is a must for me now. It makes my skin feel so soft and supple afterwards.  This Tree Hut brand comes in 4 different scents: Hibiscus, Moroccan Rose, Watermelon, and Coco Colada.  A little goes a long way.  I use it in the shower and apply by hand or with a soft facial cloth.

As you can see from my facial routine, I am big on Oil of Olay products.  They are time tested.  I remember my grandmother using them and they have products to fit all skin types.  Just like the facial cleanser, this body wash contains Hyaluronic Acid and leaves my skin feeling super soft.  I use it in my shower or in my bath.  It won't give you a lot of lather so don't feel you have to use a lot for it to work.

This is the companion lotion to the body wash and also contains hyaluronic acid which I am big on because I have experienced good results from using it on a consistent basis.

I am one of those persons that prefer a shower over bath but for my baths I like to use salts in my water to relax my muscles.  This one from Village Natural has Epsom Salt.  So, you could just use plain Epsom Salt in your bath, but the added ingredients like hemp oil soften your skin while you are soaking.

Everything You Need for Your Own Home Foot Spa

The last part of my face body routine is giving myself a good foot bath using all the ingredients from my At-Home Foot Spa list. Since it is something I do on a regular basis like at least every 2 weeks, its more economical for me to do at home rathe...

This foot spa is worth the cost if you expect to be doing this routine on a regular basis.  It can heat the water as warm or as hot as you like. The spa is fully collapsible, so it can be easily stored when its not in use, and the price is affordable compared to other foot spas.

It's a good idea to add some type of foot soak to your foot spa.  If it is a good one it will help get your skin soft and ready for the next step of getting rid of any dead skin. This one that I have tried from Kerasal is full of oils that soften and relax.  I have tried soaks from Dr. Teals in the past as well, but this one seemed to do a better job of softening.

I have tried the hand-held or manual foot exfoliators and found that it is too easy for me to file down too low and actually end up cutting through my underfoot skin.  So having this automatic exfoliator was a game changer.  You literally just place your foot on it and it does all the work, plus it prevents all the messiness.  It's worth the investment if you want to create your own really nice at-home foot spa.

To finish off your foot bath you want to use a good moisturizer, so that could be the same one you use for your body.  But if you are just starting out with this process and your feet need a little extra help, I would suggest for a few months using the foot repair ointment.  It's from Kerasal also and it is not very expensive.  Afterwards you are ready for the final step of nail painting or just leave them natural.  Either way your feet are going to look and feel great after your routine.

If you decide you want to use a moisturizer especially for feet instead of your body moisturizer, this one from Gold Bond is good. Best of all it doesn't leave the bottom of your feet feeling greasy or oily. A little goes a long way.
