This was honestly so much fun for the whole family. The sled run is about 1/4 mile long, and we actually had more fun doing this than the tubing earlier that day.

Walking the New River Gorge Bridge is one of those bucket list experiences. The views are unreal, and even if you’re a little nervous with heights, it’s 100% worth it.

A slow train ride through the mountains that feels like stepping back in time. The views are especially good in the fall, but tickets sell out fast — so it’s worth booking ahead.

A really cool underground cave experience with guided tours through natural rock formations. It’s an easy, unique stop and a nice break from being outside — but bring a hoodie because it stays cool inside year-round.

White water rafting on the New River is on my list this year, and everyone I’ve talked to says it’s worth it. Whether you go for something more laid back or full adventure, it’s one of those classic WV experiences.

Ace Adventure Water Park is one of my kids’ favorite spots. You can easily spend half the day or the whole day there — it’s fun for the whole family, and you can camp there if you want to make a trip out of it.

Rail Explorers is such a fun and different way to see the area. You ride pedal-powered rail bikes along old tracks with great views, and it’s easy enough for the whole family to enjoy.

The Greenbrier bunker tour is such a unique experience you don’t expect to find in WV. Walking through the hidden underground bunker and hearing the history behind it makes it really interesting and worth doing at least once.

The Beckley coal mine tour is a really cool way to experience a piece of WV history. You ride underground with a guide and learn what it was actually like — it’s interesting and something different you won’t forget.

Hovatter’s Wildlife Zoo is a really clean, well-kept spot and feels more personal than bigger zoos. It’s family owned and a fun place to see a variety of animals without it feeling crowded or overwhelming.

Ziplining at Adventures on the Gorge is so much fun. You get amazing views while doing something a little adventurous, but it’s still beginner-friendly.

Snow tubing at Canaan Valley is such a fun winter activity. You don’t need any skill like skiing — just show up and enjoy it, which makes it great for families. If you go later in the day, the lanes are usually slicker and you’ll go faster.

Escape rooms are a fun way to do something different, especially with a group. It’s one of those activities that gets everyone involved and ends up being more fun than you expect.
