There are SO many fun activities to do around the holidays in Utah, and the great part is, a TON of them are free or low cost. Here are some of my favorites:
This was such a cool light show to see during December/January. Perfect for a date night or families!
Aquarium Lantern Festival | November 7 – January 10
Really beautiful lights that cover every branch on these trees. And it's free!
Draper Park Holiday Lights
Temple Square is open to the public and is BEAUTIFUL to see lit up. I am not a part of the LDS church, but I can still go to the area to see the lights! Free admission
Christmas on Temple Square
Right next to Temple Square are multiple displays of ornaments made out of candy… again free to view!
Macy's Candy Windows
This family goes all out each year in SLC to dress up their house with hundreds of yard decorations. Best part is, they are super nice!

Very fun to walk around the zoo and see the lights/decorations up.
Hogle Zoo Lights!

Great place for cocoa, ice skating, and seeing great christmas lights!
Gallivan Center Ice Rink
Gorgeous trees, tasty treats, fun crafts, and more to support Primary Children's Hospital!
Festival of Trees
One of the BEST christmas themed bars in the area. They go all out with decor, drinks, and food items.
Flanker's Secret Christmas Bar
I remember going to this as a kid and thinking it was the coolest show.
The Nutcracker | Ballet West
A cool drive through christmas light display! Perfect for chilly nights
Christmas in Color
Great light display near Thanksgiving point!

A fun street near Sugarhouse where most of the houses are lit up and decorated!

Heated crater near Heber that is perfect for a cold winter day!
Homestead Crater
A fun way to spend a snowy day before looking at lights!
