This is where I come in the evening when I visit San Diego. Downtown offers eateries, bars, nightlife, lounges, relaxing cafes for coffee/tea.
Gaslamp Quarter
This is a walkable slice of California’s past, with preserved adobe buildings, handmade tortillas, and live music. Free to explore and fun for all ages. Don’t skip Cafe Coyote!
Old Town San Diego State Historic Park
Hike along dramatic cliffs with ocean views. Easy to moderate trails. Less crowded than city beaches and full of SoCal wildlife. Don’t forget your water and sunscreen!
Cabrillo National Monument
There is so much to explore here at the bay, relax, eat and walk around for the beauty.
Seaport Village
family-friendly, hidden gem! Best time to come is the summer. You can enjoy the waters edge and have a picnic at the park while watching the ships and boats.
San Diego Bayfront Park
Little Italy has a lot of delicious restaurants. Also, they have many events and farmers market on selective dates.
Little Italy Association of San Diego
This retired aircraft carrier lets you walk in the footsteps of naval heroes. Climb aboard fighter jets, walk the flight deck, and enjoy unbeatable views of the harbor. Great for kids too.
USS Midway Museum
I often come here for their indoor market with craft food vendors, handmade goods, and live music. Great lunch stop — grab lobster rolls, Filipino BBQ, or craft beer.
Liberty Public Market
This National historic landmark full of colorful, massive murals under the Coronado Bridge. Powerful local history and free to explore.

Chicano Park
World-renowned and massive. Take the double-decker bus tour first, then explore your favorites. Go early to see animals before they nap. Buy tickets online to save time.
