Before you can master crypto, you need to understand the playground you're standing on: the blockchain. A blockchain is basically a giant public record book that lives online. Every transaction (buy, sell, swap, mint) gets recorded permanently in a c...
Degen Tip: You don’t "buy blockchain," you use blockchain. Crypto projects live on blockchains — choosing the right one (Ethereum, Solana, etc.) can mean lower fees, faster swaps, and better alpha.

In crypto, L1 stands for Layer 1, and L2 stands for Layer 2. They’re both parts of the blockchain universe, but they serve different roles. Layer 1 (L1) = the main blockchain itself. Examples: Ethereum, Solana, Bitcoin. It’s where the core transactio...
Layer 2 (L2) = a second layer built on top of an L1. Examples: Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon (for Ethereum). L2s handle transactions faster and cheaper, then settle everything back to the L1 for final security. Why it matters: L1s are safe but slow and...

Degen Tip: If you’re just starting out, L2s are your best friend for cheap onchain moves. But always double-check what chain you're using — bridging mistakes are where degens lose bags.

When you first jump into crypto, it all looks the same: coins, tokens, whatever — magic internet money, right? Wrong. There’s a big difference between a cryptocurrency coin and a token, and understanding it saves you from sounding like a total noob. ...
Coin vs Token

Meow profile picture
Market cap (short for market capitalization) is how you measure the size and value of a cryptocurrency project. It’s NOT about the price per token — it’s about the total value of all circulating tokens combined.
Formula: Market Cap = Price of 1 token × Circulating Supply.
So a coin can have a low price but a massive market cap if there are billions of tokens floating around.

Circulating Supply: The number of coins that are currently available and actively trading.
Total Supply: The maximum number of coins that could ever exist (including ones still locked up, vested, or unreleased).

Tokenomics: The blueprint of how a token works — including supply schedules, emissions, burns, vesting, and incentives.
Good tokenomics = strong, sustainable projects.
Bad tokenomics = inflation disasters waiting to happen.

Degen Tip: Always check market cap, circulating supply, and tokenomics before aping in. Just because a coin is "cheap" (like $0.001) doesn’t mean it’s early — it could already be a bloated zombie with no room to grow.

DeFi stands for Decentralized Finance — it’s what happens when you take banks, brokers, lenders, and traders… and replace them with code. No middlemen. No paperwork. No asking permission. DeFi apps (called protocols) let you do everything from borrow...
Examples of DeFi protocols:
- Swap ETH for stablecoins on Uniswap.
- Lend USDC to earn interest on Aave.
- Provide liquidity on Curve to earn trading fees.
- Stake tokens to farm even more rewards.

Big Blockchains for DeFi:
- Ethereum (the OG) Solana (fast and cheap)
- Arbitrum and Optimism (layer 2s for cheaper ETH moves)

Degen Tip: In DeFi, you are your own bank — but also your own security team. Always triple-check what you approve, which sites you connect to, and never ape into contracts you don't understand.

In crypto, not all that glitters is gold — sometimes it's just a cleverly disguised scam. A rug pull happens when a project hypes up a token or NFT, gets lots of people to invest, and then the founders vanish with the money. The term "rug pull" comes...
How to spot a potential rug pull:
- Anonymous team (no real faces, no LinkedIn).
- No audits on smart contracts.
- Super-high APYs or "guaranteed" returns (nothing is ever guaranteed).
- Over-the-top marketing but zero real community.

Degen Tip: If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Always ask: “Who benefits if this succeeds — and who benefits if it fails?” Trustless systems > Trust me, bro.

How to qualify for airdrops:
- Use early-stage DeFi protocols, bridges, and wallets.
- Hold certain NFTs or governance tokens.
- Participate in testnets or beta launches.
- Stay active on new blockchains (zkSync, Base, Blast, etc.).

Degen Tip: Always use a burner wallet when hunting new airdrops. Some sketchy airdrops can be a trap to drain your wallet if you interact wrongly. Stay sharp — get paid safely.

Staking is like putting your crypto in a digital savings account — you lock it up and earn rewards over time. When you stake, you're helping secure a blockchain (like Ethereum, Solana, or Avalanche) or providing liquidity to a protocol. In return, yo...
Types of staking:
- Native Staking: Stake ETH to secure Ethereum and earn ETH.
- DeFi Staking: Stake LP tokens (liquidity provider tokens) to farm even more rewards. Usually involves a token pair like “Eth/USDC” or “SHIB/Eth”.

Degen Tip: Beware of "lock-up periods" — some staking deals don’t let you pull your funds out whenever you want. And always check the real APR (after fees and inflation).

Yield farming is DeFi on Hard Mode. Instead of just staking, you move your money between protocols chasing the highest yields possible — usually by supplying liquidity to pools (like ETH/USDC), borrowing against your own assets, or farming governance...
Risks you MUST understand:
- Impermanent Loss: If the prices of your paired tokens change a lot, you can lose value compared to just holding.
- Smart Contract Risks: If a pool gets hacked, your funds are toast.
- Volatile APYs: That 500% APY won’t last forever — yields crash fast as more farmers join.

Degen Tip: Only farm with coins you’re willing to hold long-term. Or as we say: “Don’t farm what you can't afford to harvest.” 🌾
