Isla Mujeres, Mexico - Tips for a GREAT vacation!
A day trip to Isla Mujeres is one of the best things to do if you are staying in Cancun or anywhere on the Riviera Maya. BUT, if you can, try to spend a night or two and really see, do and eat everything!!
Where to Stay
We have been to the island many times and stayed in many different places. I´m not sure I have a favorite yet!
Isla has some really nice hotels and condo-hotels to choose from. For such a tiny island, there is really something for every travel style and budget. If my BF and I come back without my adult kids, we will be book at Ixchel Beach House.
I just spent three days on the island. We chose Rocamar for the location and the affordable rates. There are some other great options as well. Check out Hotel Bahia Chac Chi.
Very nice, reasonable priced condominium at Nautibeach. Perfect for a family or couples traveling together. This condo is just 1 minute from the beach and super close to all the great restaurants in downtown Isla.
If you are looking for a modern condo with the best views on the island, you cant miss with this gorgeous condo at Ixchel on Isla Mujere´s famous Playa Norte.
This condo is located in downtown but just a few minutes walk from al the best beaches, restaurants and shops. This is a great affordable option for a family or 2 couples traveling together.

It´s a tiny island..not even 5 miles long…but there is a lot to do and see.

Do NOT miss the chance to explore Isla Contoy. They only allow 200 people per day on the island so be sure to reserve well in advance, once you have your travel dates set.
We love stopping in at the beading co-op. If you are looking for authentic handmade beaded jewelry, this is a must-stop. The qulaity is excellent and the prices are the best on the island. No cheap chinese crap here!

The best breakfast (and lunch) on the island. You will need a golf cart to get there but it is SO worth the trip. Big flavorful food, huge portions, reasonable prices. We eat here every time we are on the island.
Glorious Mediterranean food in a stunning garden atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic dinner our or a special occassion. Olivia has been one of my favorite restaurants on isla Mujeres for year. The food and service remain consistently excellent.
One of the most popular restaurants on isla Mujeres and for good reason! The food and drinks are always on point. Not the cheapest place on the island but with such a great location on Hidalgo, it´s understandable. Good for breakfast, lunch or dinner...
Hands down the freshest seafood on Isla Mujeres. Plus the view across the water to Cancun is amazing! If you like oysters and other shellfish, MarBella is the place to find it!
