PROS: This serum made my skin feel very smooth and soft. Although this was advertised as a brightening serum, I noticed a great difference in my skin texture. CONS: I wish I could hate it given the price point of $100 CAD
Vinoperfect Facial Radiance Dark Spot Serum | CAUDALIE®
PROS: It's the only product that helped with my redness and eczema. If you're on Retinol, this is a NEED as it helps so much with flaking and dryness. It also works amazing as a base under my makeup. CONS: For the price of $16 CAD you don't get much product. I go through one bottle a month using it as a night-time moisturizer.
Cicaplast Balm B5 | Dry Skin Irritations
PROS: By far the best face mask I've ever owned. When dried you can see the impurities come out from your pores and when washed off, your skin looks clean and shiny. You only need to leave it for 15 mins. Highly highly recommend! (Price: 16 CAD)
innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Masks: Volcanic ...
PROS: One of my fav cleansers. Similar to the mask, your skin looks and feels clean and exfoliated. It doesn't make my skin feel tight afterwards either. CONS: Price went up to $18 CAD.
Volcanic BHA Pore Cleansing Foam - innisfree
PROS: The absolute best makeup remover. It does great for taking off dead skin and has a minimal scent. I've noticed a great improvement in my skin texture and it stays a staple in my night-time routine.
BANILA CO Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original
PROS: Honestly I was won over by the therapeutic scent and the cooling sensation it leaves on my skin. I use it as part of my relaxation routine on top of my moisturizer in the evening but it's not exactly a “need”. If you want a nice night-time mask... CONS: It costs $40 CAD. It's a good amount for the price, although I only use sparingly.
LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask: Visibly Brighten, ...
PROS: It truly works. I apply it at night and the next morning the gunk is sucked out and on the patch. It flattens pimples and redness goes down 99% of the time. CONS: It's $19 CAD for 25 patches.
COSRX Acne Pimple Patch Absorbing ...
PROS: Hands down one of the best serums I've ever used. It leaves the skin feels soft and smooth but doesn't have a tacky or sticky feeling when left on the skin. It also feels nice and soothes any redness. CONS: The price point tends to turn people away as it starts at $85, but I definitely think it's worth the splurge.
ESTEE LAUDER Advanced Night Repair ...
PROS: I use it for its brightening effects. It's worked for me personally applying it once every 3 days under the armpits and at the knees. It's a large bottle too for only $13 CAD! CONS: N/A
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner
PROS: AMAZING. 10/10. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND. As an asian with straight, short lashes, I saw a huge difference only within 2 weeks of wearing. Make sure to get the US formulation as the Canadian one lacks ingredients that help it work well. (Price: 40 CAD) CONS: N/A
Grande Cosmetics - MD Lash Enhancing Serum
Misses
CONS: I tried and tested this product for 3 whole years only to realize it was breaking me out. It leaves a sticky residue that sits on top rather than absorb and didn't do much to fade pigmentation and hydrate my skin. (Price: 25 CAD)
COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing ...
1
CONS: I heard so many great things about this cream, but it broke me out immediately within 10 minutes of letting it sit on my skin. There's also a very strong and unbearable scent to it. (Price: 18 CAD)
Faded Serum for Dark Spots & Discoloration
CONS: It caused redness and itchyness for my sensitive skin. It also cried out my skin even with a thin application.
THE ORDINARY Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1 ...
PROS: It's affordable at the price point of 11 CAD. CONS: It's just “okay”. It can be drying sometimes so I stopped using it during the Winter season. Some people are bothered by a herbal scent but I personally didn't mind it. I just think there's better cleansers out there.
