Just go ahead and invest in lots of post-it notes if you like to study anything, especially the Bible. Even if you like to write directly on you're Bible for reference... you're going to run out of room.

I use my Apple Pencil like it's an extra hand. It's great for note taking, drawing, navigation on the iPad, etc.
You definitely need a Bluetooth keyboard if you plan to do any typing. It's better than the on screen keyboard on the iPad and who doesn't love some keyboard ASMR?
If you're a little more traditional and like writing on plain paper, I recommend a spiral notebook! It's a lot easier to lay flat on pretty much any surface for note taking and, if you want to scrap a whole page, just tear it out!
