I bought three cheap bubble machines before I found ones that don't quit after four minutes. These run long enough that my kids lose track of time chasing bubbles around the yard.

We don't have room for a pool and I got tired of saying no. These give my kids that same soaking-wet summer joy without me worrying about deep water or a giant inflatable taking over the yard.

Board games last five minutes before someone flips the board. These backyard games actually hold my kids' attention because they involve running, throwing, or mild sibling competition.

The real battle is getting them to stay outside once it starts getting dark. These solved that completely because apparently anything that glows is ten times more interesting than going inside.

Realistically I wasn't going to stand in the yard for two hours without somewhere comfortable to sit. These made the backyard feel like a place I wanted to be, not just a place I supervised from the window.
