this is the first sewing machine I ever had and works great for a beginner!

hand sewing needles are a must!

having extra machine needles on hand is so important! You're likely to break a needle every now and then and/or need to replace them when they get dull

everyone makes mistakes, especially as a beginner - so you'll definitely need a seam ripper on hand

a good pair of fabric scissors goes a long way - and make sure to only use them for fabric!!!

little scissors for snipping thread are a must

this is an important tool for marking your fabric for darts, pleats, etc.

once you start patternmaking, this is a great tool for smaller curves like necklines, armholes, etc.

this is my favorite ruler for patternmaking and marking my fabric!

tracing wheels are a little bit more advanced, but if you want to get into patternmaking - they're well worth getting!
Tracing Wheel - 4mm & 2mm Leather Needle
once you start patternmaking, a hip curve is going to be so helpful in marking out larger curves (around the hips) or other parts of the body that have larger curves
Aluminum French Curve Hip Measuring Ruler
this is a bit more advanced, but once you've started sewing and want to tackle patternmaking - this is the paper I like to use!
