Movies that deserve attention and a damn updated release.
Race of alien lizards adapt to the methods their brethren are killed by. One of my biggest DVD wants.
Aberration
Giant alien bugs assume the lives of humans to spy on them...with varied results. Ed Begley Jr., Stockard Channing and Dabney Coleman star in this Michael Lehmann dark comedy. Criminal this hasn't had a wide release.
The Applegates
This is a made-for-TV banger about a cop who is also a serial killer. As the subject matter of this film becomes more and more relevant, I'm hoping it finds a new audience soon. All the cover art I've found for this film is awesome as well.
The China Lake Murders
Bonkers horror comedy starring Stella Stevens. If The Evil Dead and Rabid Grannies had a baby, it would be this movie.
The Granny
This is billed as a romantic comedy, but this one plays out more like a made-for-TV morailty tale about the devastating effects of alcoholism. I am obsessed with Sharon Gless.
Hardhat and Legs
Women who have survived rape form a support group that exacts revenge on the perpetrators. The Media VHS release is my favorite cover art of all time. I love this movie.
The Ladies Club
With a cast as stacked as this, it's a little surprising that this doesn't have a wider release. The content of this film explains why it doesn't though. I won't get into it, but I've never been so mad at an ending in my life. Not even Eden Lake was ...
The Liars' Club
Adrienne Barbeau stars in this extremely poignant late 80s slasher. Given how relevant the storyline still is, I wouldn't be surprised if we actually see a wider release of this in the next couple of years. If you get an opportunity to watch this, I ...
Open House
This is one of the most batshit shot-on-video supernatural slasher films in existence. With movies like Sledgehammer readily available, it's very disappointing this one hasn't been picked up yet.
Phantom Brother
This is a slow start, but once it starts rolling, it is a lot of fun. Sadistic prince returns from the grave to torture people.
Playroom
Canadian eco-horror that never actually got any official release. A test print has surfaced in recent years and has made its way around the bootleg community, but that's it. It's a shame too, this one is fun.
Psycho Pike
A snowy set action thriller. This one might be a little rough around the edges, but that doesn't stop it from being fully entertaining.
Snow Kill
Amy Jo Johnson stars as Nansi Nevins, lead singer of the band Sweetwater, the opening act at the original Woodstock. This is probably the best things VH-1 ever produced and one of my favorite non-horror TV movies of all time.
Sweetwater: A True Rock Story
This is another one that has, at least, the cast to more than validate an updated release. Not only that, it's an incredibly heartfelt family film.
Trading Mom
Leif Garrett stars in this surprisingly original paychological thriller about a female entity that preys on the weak-willed and pushes them to suicide. Definitely not for everyone, but if you're looking for something different, I would recommend this...
