We've been van lifers since 2017 when we converted a small Mazda van into a home on wheels to travel around Australia in. Now we're converting a VW Crafter van to do the same around Europe!

❄️ Insulation

Phase 1 for us was insulating the van. We want it to be able to keep us cool in the summer, but warm in the winter AND to keep Lilly comfortable year round. Here's what we used.

We used closed foam insulation to sound deaden the van floor, walls and ceiling. This product is very lightweight and very effective.

An important part of your insulation is to cover the seems of whatever material you have used. We use this aluminium foil tape to keep our insulation gap free and as effective as possible.

DodoMat are the best company when it comes to insulation such as this product which is the recycled plastic bottle ‘fleece’ that we have used in abundance in our van!

⚡ Electrics

The fun part of building the van is planning and kitting out the electrics. Working online means we need this van to be completely off grid capable and give us the ability to plug in and work from anywhere.

💦 Plumbing

Our campervan won't have a full shower room or toilet, but we will have a fully working kitchen with a sink and running water. This is everything we've used for this part of the van build

These quick fit plumbing parts are some much easier to work with if you aren't an experienced plumber! Make sure you get the correct fittings for the job to avoid leaks but if you connect these pipes and fittings correctly you can't really go wrong.
