Cotton sheets in December were my biggest mistake — I'd slide into bed and it felt like lying on a cold metal table. Switching my base layer changed everything overnight.

Piling on four heavy blankets made me feel like I was sleeping under a pile of bricks. Finding the right comforter meant I could use one layer and actually stay warm.

My old duvet cover was basically decorative — thin, slippery, and did nothing for warmth. Once I switched to a heavier cover, my comforter actually started doing its job.

Tossing and turning was half my problem — I'd kick off blankets in my sleep and wake up freezing with bare legs. A weighted blanket kept me still and covered all night.

Some nights are just colder than others, and instead of messing with the thermostat, I started keeping a throw at the foot of the bed to pull up when I needed it.

Cold air was creeping up from under me the whole time — I was layering on top but ignoring the bottom. Adding a warm mattress pad was the fix I didn't know I needed.

Nothing ruins a warm bed like flipping your pillow and hitting an ice-cold surface. These pillows hold warmth better and stopped that jarring cold-pillow wake-up.

Silk and satin pillowcases look great but feel like pressing your face against a cold window in January. Warmer fabrics made a noticeable difference in my sleep quality.

My feet were the real problem — even under three blankets, cold feet kept me awake. Targeted warming accessories finally solved the one spot blankets couldn't reach.

All the warm bedding in the world won't help if your room is working against you. A few small changes to my bedroom setup made every layer more effective.
