Spanning over 13,000 acres across Luzerne, Sullivan, and Columbia counties in northeastern PA, Ricketts Glen is a National Natural Landmark
A full loop covers ~7.2 miles, though a popular shorter option is a ~3.2-mile hike combining Glen Leigh and Ganoga Glen
Please be sure to wear good hiking shoes, be in good physical shape, and have a map available as cell service is spotty.  During the Winter the falls are closed to visitors.

Operated by the Reading & Northern Railroad, the train departs from Jim Thorpe's historic station and winds through the scenic Lehigh Gorge State Park, following the Lehigh River and passing dramatic cliffs and forests
This a beautiful old railroad offering short rides to check out the views of mountains.  They even offer specialty rides.  I do wish the rides were longer but it still a nice little trip.

Wood-fired, brick-oven pizzas made with fresh ingredients.
Adjacently located to one of the Poconos’ oldest family-run wineries (since 1981), you can enjoy tastings, sangria flights, or full glasses while overlooking the vineyard.
Cozy ambiance with live music on weekends, scenic outdoor seating by pond and firepits, and a laid-back country vibe.
The atmosphere is great here - I have even watched a bear walk by as I was sipping wine. If you come into the area this is a must try - beware the wait times vary as it is a smaller establishment - you won't be disappointed.

Turtle Back Zoo is a medium-sized, family-friendly zoo nestled in the South Mountain Reservation.
Wide variety of animals for a regional zoo Great for young children and school trips Educational without being overwhelming.
But it can get crowded on weekends and holidays.  Food is concerned overpriced but what establishment for entertainment isn't.  This also isn't too appealing to the older children(teen) but still a nice day trip.

Watkins Glen State Park, nestled at the southern tip of Seneca Lake in New York's Finger Lakes, is a breathtaking nature destination built around a dramatic 400‑foot gorge dotted with 19 waterfalls in just under two miles.
Fees: $10 per vehicle entry, plus $5 round‑trip for the shuttle
This is a beautiful state park but it is physically demanding so please have the proper footwear and take your time.  I suggest staying on the trails for safety.   This is a MUST DO for photographers.

Located in Corning, NY (about 4 hrs north of NYC), this is the largest museum dedicated solely to glass. It blends art, history, and science—housed across galleries spanning 35 centuries, contemporary art, and cutting-edge glass innovation.
They have live glass blowing demostrations which are amazing to see.  You can make/create your own.  The kids will love the things made from glass.  But remember it is glass :)
Go and have fun on maybe a rainy day.

A man by the name of George Boldt decided to build this castle for his love(Gilded Age period) and he was going to surprise her on Valentines day - well needless to say that didn't get to happen.
The amount of history and beauty of this place is amazing.  The stories that you will hear about this place during the tour also good.
Go go go!  It is a place I go often - even just to see what I might have missed that last time I was there.  Be sure to download the app.  It will help :)

This boat tour offers quite a few different cruises.  We have tried them all and think they are great.
Book in advanced as it fills up pretty quickly during peak season.  It is between 1-3 hrs depending on the tour option you pick.  The kids will love it.
It is educational, fun and an adventure.  They will make a stop at Boldt Castle where you can get off and get some snacks - tour the Castle(additional fees app) if you choose or they will take you back to Alexandria Bay.
One of my favorite tour boats! :) Happy Sailing.
