My little Lake Ontario getaway wish list
From Lake Ontario to Lake America.
I don't know why, but the whole name change thing has made me want to actually see this lake.
And not just stand somewhere and look at it.
I mean getting on a boat.
A yacht p...

A private yacht day in Toronto
If I'm going to Lake Ontario, this is probably where I'm starting.
Get some people together. Get a yacht. Stay on the water for a few hours.
No big plan really.
Just music, food, the Toronto view and the lake.
This is t...
Toronto Yachts
A Toronto harbour cruise
Maybe I don't need the whole private yacht thing.
A harbour cruise still gives you that feeling of being away from the city while you're literally looking at the city.
I'd probably go around sunset.
That's when I want to be o...
Toronto Harbour Tours
A proper sailing day from Harbourfront
I've never sailed on Lake Ontario, so this is one I'd really like to try.
Not a cruise where somebody else does everything.
I mean actually getting on a sailboat and spending some time out there.
Let's see what ...
A sunset sail
This one is pretty obvious.
But I don't think I'd get tired of it.
The sun going down.
The water getting darker.
Toronto sitting in the distance.
Sometimes the simple things are the ones you actually remember.
Does anyone else think that sunsets are the most magical ...
Toronto Islands by boat
I want to see the Toronto skyline from the other side.
Not from a building.
From the water.
I'd probably make this part of the same day as the yacht or sailing trip instead of treating it as a separate trip.
Toronto Harbour Tours
A yacht charter from Port Credit
This one caught my attention because it gives you another place to start from.
If Toronto harbour is too busy, Port Credit sounds like a good alternative.
I'd probably pick this for a quieter day on the lake.
Bluewater Yacht Group
Kingston sailing trip
Toronto isn't the only place I'd want to see.
Kingston is another one I'd put on the list.
Different view. Different side of the lake.
And if I'm already travelling all the way there, I might as well see more than one part of it...
Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises
The 1000 Islands cruise
Okay, this one isn't exactly the same thing as sitting on a yacht all day.
But I'm adding it anyway.
Because if I'm doing the Kingston side of Lake Ontario, I'm not going to ignore the 1000 Islands.
I'd rather spend the day o...
Sailing around Niagara
This sounds like another one I'd enjoy.
Especially if I'm already doing Niagara Falls.
Instead of making the whole trip about the falls, I'd add some time on Lake Ontario and actually get on the water.
Add a visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake to your Niagara Falls trip
A yacht club day
This is the one for when I want to feel like I somehow entered another person's life for the weekend.
Yacht club.
Boats everywhere.
People getting ready to sail.
Maybe a drink. Maybe food.
Maybe I get lucky and there's some ceremony ...
A speedboat ride
Because sitting quietly on a sailboat can't be the whole trip.
I want one proper speedboat ride too.
Just let the boat move.
Let the water splash.
And hopefully I remember the life jacket part.
Rochester Yacht Club
I also want to see what the U.S. side of the lake feels like.
Rochester gives me another option for that.
So if I somehow end up on that side, this is going on the list.
Rochester Yacht Club
The funny thing about “Lake America”
Maybe I'll actually make this trip before the new name becomes normal.
Because right now, Lake Ontario is still what my brain knows.
So for now:
Lake Ontario.
Maybe later:
Lake America.
Either way, I want to see w...
Toronto Islands
Not just looking at the islands from a boat. Actually spending some time there. Picnic, walk around, then get back on the water.
