When Hurricane Season is in full swing it is best to be prepared! Here are some thing that will keep you safe and most importantly comfortable.
Power Up
You may not fill all of your electrical needs but you can make things better!
Though not always the most affordable this is the best by far. This can power your entire home within seconds of a power outage automatically.
This Honda generator it the one I have and it has never left me down. I am able to keep vital things like my refrigerator, tv, cell phones and laptops charged up all while keeping some fans going. Easy to start and maintain.
This is the larger of the two generators I own and it is a beast. I love that it can be operated with gas or hooked up to a propane tank which is what I do. Easy start and can power a lot without bogging down or surging.
If you are just looking to power a few small things for an extended period of time this inverter will get the job done.
Now this is not designed to power a whole lot but it does it for free... meaning the sun will provide what you need as long as it is out. Keeping it small like cell phones and laptops.
Now not the most thought of option but you can use the power of wind to juice up some of your devices or fill some of your electrical needs.
Monitor the situation
You are going to know what is going on before, during, and after the storm! Useful items to do just that.
This radio can give you voice alerts for when dangerous conditions are imminent. This is a plus for when the weather gets really bad.
Your not always going to hav access to the outdoor generator during the storm and this is a great way to stay connected to what is going on.
This is a great all in one option that will monitor the weather right at your home.
This is the weather station that I personally have and love. I am able to see my weather real time in my home and on my phone while away. I can also upload the data contributing in real time to weather underground the current weather in the area.
If your like me and want to see for yourself during the thick of the storm which is not safe then get yourself a rain suit so your not completely soaked.
The basic needs!
Here are a few basics you should have because you never know what could happen.
You will want to have containers that are fill with fresh drinkable water and these are great because they can hold a good bit… 7 gallons.
These are some pretty bright flashlights great for when your outside or need to light up a large area fast.
Keep yourself and family safe with at least a basic first aid kit!
You are going to want to keep all the batteries you may need in one place and this storage case is perfect for just that.
Keep your documents, prescriptions, and other important items safe with this waterproof storage container.
Don’t forget your Pets!
We can’t forget that during storms our pets have needs too from care to keeping them occupied here are some helpful things!
Dogs can get stressed during storms or even when the sense that we’re anxious so let’s keep them calm and relaxed when it gets tense.
You may need to leave in a hurry so keeping a few collapsible bowls on hand is a good idea.
Your pets can be injured during storms too and keeping a first aid kit on hand for them too is a good option.
During storms I switch out my pets collars either these reflective personalized ones. Great for especially when it is dark. Your babies can be seen if they get out.
Your pets get hot too and with ice packs this cooling house can cool them down so they are more comfortable.
