These are some summer activities I have found for my kiddos this summer to get away from the normal with just sitting around or theme parks.

Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center
A great way for both you and your kids to burn off some engery in both the summer and winter months. However make sure if you are a patent you get a regular pass for yourself because if not you can't have all the fun.
Urban Air Adventure Park
Being a parent I love this park because it's a pay as you play kind of park. Plus they have camping too.
Knoebels Amusement Resort
If you are looking at a fun campground that allows dogs in some of there cabin I highly suggest looking at this campground. So the whole family can have fun.
Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Eagles Peak
Granted it's not much but who doesn't want a pit of ice in the middle of the summer because for some reason that's when it wants to really freeze.
Coudersport Ice Mine
It's a small little mountain community that does a snake hunt once a year...why not it's a real up close look at them still in the wild but in a controlled environment.
Rattlesnake Roundup
Its such a great place to get away with no cell service. They have a great little beach along a little lake, so if you are looking for that ultimate get away I would highly suggest going.
Black Moshannon State Park
If you looking for a place that you can hike and fish and see beautiful waterfalls
Camping PA Grand Canyon.
If you like hiking and waterfalls this is one of the best places to go.
Ricketts Glen State Park
Looking for a quiet place to spend time innthe outdoors and with family look no further.
Hammond Lake
Next time you plan a trip i.would highly suggest going through vrbo. I have never had such a easy time book a place for a family of 6.
