Faber-Castell - Polychromos Color Pencils
I get these pencils singularly, just so the price doesn’t throw me off. Quite expensive, but among the top of the bunch. I tend to go for their white and earth coloured pencils.

Acrylic primer in a few coats is usually sufficient to prepare my canvas for an oil painting.

If I happen to use a pencil (rather than a brush) for sketching, a fixative spray keeps the sketch on the canvas and helps the sketch withstand the first layers of paint.
