Fall is my favorite time to read. I usually try to find a few books each season that “feel” like Fall or Halloween. This could mean horror or just a cozy autumn feel. This list includes all kinds of books that I’ve read before that I think are perfect for Halloween and Fall - ranging from some classics, to books aimed at younger children (even infants).

A mix of the books that have stayed with me, from childhood favorites to recent reads. Each note is a quick snapshot of why it mattered to me: memories, feelings, and lessons I took from the story. Hopefully you’ll find something new here that hits just as hard for you.

One of my hobbies and passions is retro 90s collectibles, especially physical media. I actually have created my own retro corner/nook filled with them in my basement, including the original CRT TV and VCR from my childhood (that’s right, my parents didn’t throw anything out!). This is my personal “starter pack” for a legit retro VHS shelf - the tapes I grew up with, rewound a thousand times, and still get very nostalgic about. Think worn cardboard sleeves and chunky Disney clamshells. I’ll keep adding titles (and photos from my own collection) as I go, but this is where I’d start.

Easy, low-stress day trips from the DC area with walkable downtowns, good food, and kid-friendly vibes. All close enough for a morning drive, a few hours of wandering, and being home in time for bedtime.
