Using double-sided tape saves me so much time.

You'll be surprised what props you can make with cotton balls. They could be used as mini clouds or depicted as snow falling, they can be stretched, dyed, etc.
Cotton Balls
Use an extension cord with multiple outlets if you are using mechanical items. I do suggest getting battery operated items to prevent any hazards.

If you are using wires or an extension cord, be sure to use electrical tape to tape your cords to the floor or along the floorboards to prevent any hazards, or loose wires by your doorway. Battery operated items are best
