We tried three different boards before landing on the right size and layout. Too small and you can't read anything past Tuesday. Too big and it swallows your wall. These are the ones that hit the sweet spot.

Nothing kills the system faster than markers that smear when someone brushes past or leave permanent shadows after a month. I ruined one board learning this lesson so you don't have to.

The board itself is only half the battle. Without somewhere to stash markers and a way to mount it properly, the whole thing ends up crooked on one nail with markers rolling around the counter.

The whiteboard handles the big picture but some weeks need backup. These are the things I keep in the kitchen drawer right below the board for when life gets extra complicated.
