I wanted something genuinely flat or short enough to slide into a wallet without making it bulge. Most so-called compact pens are still too thick. These actually disappear into your carry.

Not everything has to be wallet-flat. Some of these are just slim and short enough to ride in a front pocket without poking you or looking weird through your pants.

Once I started collecting small pens I realized they end up loose in every bag I own. A little organization goes a long way, especially when you're digging through a backpack at airport security.

The biggest complaint about tiny pens is that they write terribly. Half the time it's not the pen, it's the ink. These refills turned my compact pens from frustrating to genuinely enjoyable.

What's the point of always having a pen if you don't have something to write on? I started carrying a pocket notebook two years ago and I've captured ideas, phone numbers, and grocery lists I would have completely forgotten.
