Youth Sailing Must Haves
My son loves being out on the water and both of my kids race dingy sail boats competitively. We've gone through a lot of gear as they have grown and here are a few of the best gear, clothing and more for being out on the water.
Life Safety
Life Jackets We've Used
My son races in this jacket on both Opti's and big boats. It allows for great mobility and it's comfy to wear. (He's about 5'0 and wears an x-small in black).
This is my life jacket (Adults Only). It's extremely lightweight & comfortable and I love that it sits off of the back of my neck.
Both my daughter and I wear this PFD and in terms of being low-profile and easy to move in this one is top notch.
Foulies & More
When the water is spraying or the weather is cold, these will keep you warm.
These kids foulie bibs are great! The are super adjustable as the kids get taller and the pocket is pretty handy.
Great top for those slightly warmer but splashy days on the water.
This jacket was made through the input of sailors on what their most critical needs are. I think it's awesome the HH mad it in kids & Jrs sizes so that they can get the benefit too.
The hydrophobic top and pants are the best base layer. My son wears the pant under a bathing suit on warmer days and under his foulies on colder or very wet days. They are stretchy and allow for easy movement within the boat.
These pants are great under foulies as a base layer. Although these are the mens, they are fairly unisex.
When a slightly heavier base layer is needed this top is a great go-to!
Sunshine Gear
Gear to keep your cool and protect you from the sun.
A hat is a must-have piece of gear out on the water. The 50+ UV protection is awesome with this one and although not pictured, I love the white one because it will show less salt.
On warm days a rashguard is great to protect from the sun and from a lifejacket rubbing as you hike out or move lines.
This insulated water bottle comes in so many super cute colors and a variety of sizes. The 3 different lids it comes with allows for plenty of options and with a little ice it'll keep the water inside nice and cool for a long time!
