My mother and I have taken two trips to the beautiful province of Newfoundland, Canada. Here are some of the places we visited and attractions we saw. Some links might be affiliate links.

Although we saw many icebergs from shore, nothing compared to taking a closer look by boat. This was an awesome boat tour. Captain Keith took us right up close to some big icebergs (still at a safe distance). He also fished some bergy bits out of the...
Iceberg Alley Boat Tours
We saw several caribou driving into St. Anthony and also along the Burin Peninsula
Woodland Caribou
Gros Morne is beautiful just to drive through. We could see Western Brook Fjord from the parking lot. But if you're up for the 3 km hike, I recommend the boat tour. We did it years ago and it was definitely worth it.
Western Brook Fjord | Gros Morne National Park
The Tablelands are a unique geological formation. It's part of the earth's mantle. Just driving along the road is pretty impressive. There are hikes too if you're up for it.
Tablelands | Gros Morne National Park
It's a long 7 hour crossing so I recommend if you don't want to splurge on a cabin or can't get one (book way in advance if you do want one) pay a bit extra and get the reserved seating. It's like first class seating. You have a lot more space and fo...
Marine Atlantic | Ferries to Nova Scotia & Newfoundland
This was really interesting. We were thankful so many of the big and scary-looking bugs are NOT in Canada. We spent a couple hours but you could easily spend longer if you stopped to read all the displays. They even have a LIVE leafcutter colony whic...
Newfoundland Insectarium
We stopped to see the 500-year-old cedar tree that has lots of carvings of historic people & scenes of Newfoundland and Labrador. I liked the puffin and seal.
Newfoundland & Labrador Heritage Tree - Steady Brook
We toured through this attraction on a previous visit. The people were dressed up as vikings and showed us how they would have lived in the colony around 790-1066 AD. Mom got to try her hand at axe throwing! There's not a lot of walking and no steps ...

We saw a few moose but we were off the roads before dark or we likely would have seen more.
Newfoundland Moose
This park is free and you can see the sea arches from the parking lot if mobility is an issue. They also have outhouses.
The Arches Provincial Park
This was a beautiful lighthouse with amazing sea coast scenery around it.
Rose Blanche Lighthouse

This was one of my favorite places in the whole province. It's free and only a short walk from the parking lot. We brought camp chairs and binoculars to watch the puffins and other sea birds.
Elliston Puffin Viewing Site
We ate at the Puffin Cafe before going out to view the puffins. The food was good and the owner has a gift shop next door. She takes the photos for the postcards she sells.
The Puffin Café
We saw a few puffins here. Beautiful scenery along the coast.
Cape Bonavista Lighthouse

This was a free provincial park that was roadside so great for those with low mobility. It was out a gravel road that was fine in a car. The scenery along the coast here was spectacular with rugged cliffs and sea stacks.
Dungeon Provincial Park UNESCO Geosite
This was in a very small community with this neat geological feature.
Devil's Footprints
This was another beautiful spot with a lovely sea arch. But the scenery around it also made it worth the drive. It was a short walk from a small parking area.
Tickle Cove Sea Arch
This was a nice scenic drive. We saw some caribou along the way. This is the way you go if you're taking the ferry to visit the Islands of St Pierre and Miquelon which belong to France. There's even a Canada/France Border crossing.
Burin Peninsula
This was a 1.5 km walk out to cliffs to see sea birds. It has the third-largest nesting site and southernmost colony of northern gannets in North America. It was amazing to be able to get so close to see them.
Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve
This was a great tour out to a refuge to see puffins. We really enjoyed it.
Molly Bawn Whale-Puffin Tours
The day we visited it was so windy we thought we'd get blown off the cliff. You get an amazing view of the city of St. John's from up here.
Cabot Tower & Signall Hill
Be the first to see the sun rise here at this beautiful site. We saw whales spouting in the ocean.
Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site

This was a lovely motel and a 5 minute drive off the ferry. We had a harbour view room and it was clean and quiet.
St. Christopher's Hotel
We stayed here two nights and it was a really nice motel and included a hot breakfast. Right on the Trans Canada, it was a convenient stop. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable.
Quality Hotel | Clarenville
If you like geology, this is a do not miss attraction. We really enjoyed it.
