One of my favorite restaurants on the island. We tend to go here for birthdays and things like Father's Day.
Galveston - Saltgrass Steak House
Small and cozy, as well as super popular. The pizza is really good. And they have talented people who still do the “throwing pizza dough in the air” thing.
Mama Teresa's Flying Pizza
Small and locally owned. They have the BEST nachos I've ever had.
Chilangos Brothers Taco Shop
Other Food & Drinks
Locally owned. They're always super busy, especially during the summer. Call ahead for reservations, and expect to drive around a while to find parking.
Home - The Sunflower Bakery & Cafe
You have GOT to try the Old Fashioned Cinnamon Roll. It's huge and has walnuts and no icing. I could eat them every day.
Shipley Do-Nuts
Locally owned. It has candy made right in the store, as well as ice cream, milkshakes, and a whole lot of other stuff.
La King's Confectionery

One of my favorite historic buildings on the island. It has guided tours as well as self-guided with handheld recording devices that tell you the history of the building and people who lived there. I recommend taking both kinds of tours as you learn ...
Moody Mansion
Another favorite historic building. Even if you've been once, I recommend going again. There's always something new to see or learn about.
Bishop's Palace
Historic, over 130 years old. And they still have plays you can go see pretty much every month of the year. They also do tours of the building in the daytime.
The Grand 1894 Opera House
It's a library, but it also has a lot of local cultural information. And a museum display on the top floor that showcases Galveston's history.
Rosenberg Library
The 3 big pyramids you can see when driving onto the island. They have an aquarium, a rainforest area with animals and birds, a movie theater, all kinds of things. I love the aquarium the most.
