Craft Coffee: A Manual: Brewing a Better Cup at Home
The Chemex is just as much a statement piece for your countertop as it is a tool to make delicious coffee!
I like to use the Chemex when we have guests over and need to make a little more coffee than usual. Plus, it's always cool looking like a chemist!
The 8-cup is a great option for two people (or one, very large cup of coffee).
See my other post for my favorite filters (hint: I recommend bleached filters over natural filters).
Chemex 8 Cup Glass Pour Over Coffee Maker
My absolute favorite way to make my daily cup of morning coffee! You can set up the Hario V60 dripper directly over your mug, or, you can also purchase the glass server if you want to complete the aesthetic.
Make sure you grab the filters (also included in this list), a scale (I also linked my top pick in this list), and a bag of your favorite coffee beans.
If you're not sure how to get started, I also linked the book I used to perfect my technique. I cannot recommend it enough!
Hario V60 Ceramic Drip Brewer
My favorite scale that I've used so far! I've used mine for about four years now, and it's still going strong. The removable mat makes it easy to clean, and it has multiple measurement settings. The included timer is also great for pour-overs!
Kaffe Battery Powered Automatic Shut-Off Digital Kitchen Scale
It's definitely a splurge, but it's well worth the investment.
Temperature is one of the many important components of perfecting your coffee game, and this kettle makes it easy to achieve that perfect temperature. I also appreciate that it holds the temperature so you can walk away and do other things while you ...
Another great feature is the gooseneck spout. It helps a ton when it comes to controlling your pour so that you can hit those time intervals just right.
The built in timer is super helpful, and not to mention, it looks great on your counter! I've had my kettle for about four years and it's held up well the entire time.
Fellow Stagg EKG Kettle
While I do typically recommend bleached filters, you may prefer unbleached filters!
Some people may notice that the unbleached filters alter the taste of your coffee, but I did use them for years without noticing.
Try both and see what you like best! There is a lot of science behind coffee, but it is also an art :)
Chemex Unbleached Coffee Filters, 100 Count
I love the square Chemex filters, but the round ones are also a great option!
Chemex Pre-Folded Coffee Filters, 100 Count
As always, I recommend the bleached version of filters over the unbleached version.
Pro-tip: if you pre-wet the filter before adding the beans, it'll help remove the “paper-y” taste you can sometimes get when using paper filters!
