My cleanser rotation — one for every kind of skin day

Purple Star emoji 13 items
My skin doesn't do the same thing two days in a row — some mornings it's fine, some nights it's buried under SPF and a full face of makeup, and some weeks it's just mad at me for no reason. So instead of one cleanser trying to do everything (and doin...

AM Rinse

Mornings don't need much — my skin isn't dirty, it just needs a quick reset before moisturizer and SPF go on. These are light enough that they won't strip anything, which matters more than people think.

My actual every morning cleanser. Doesn't fight back, doesn't leave that tight feeling, ceramides so it's basically doing skincare while it washes.

For the mornings I'm too rushed to even do a real rinse. Cotton pad, done, out the door.

My backup when my skin's feeling a little dry and CeraVe alone isn't cutting it.

PM Cleanse (double cleanse when I've got makeup/SPF on)

If I wore SPF or makeup that day, one cleanser isn't getting all of it off — no matter what the bottle claims. This is my actual double cleanse: an oil or balm first to break everything down, then a gentler second step to actually clean the skin unde...

First step, non-negotiable if I wore SPF or makeup that day. Melts everything off without the greasy after-feel.

My other go-to balm step, especially if I did a heavier makeup look. Rinses cleaner than the Banila Co for me.

Second step, low pH so it's not undoing what the balm just did.

My other second-step option on nights my skin's feeling more oily than usual.

When My Skin Is Having a MomentNew Section

Red, tight, stinging when I put anything on it — these are the only three I trust when my skin's clearly telling me to back off. Fragrance-free, minimal ingredients, nothing that could make it worse.

The one I reach for the second my skin starts getting red or tight. Zero fragrance, zero drama.

The classic for a reason. This is what I go back to when literally everything else feels like too much.
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

A step up if Cetaphil alone isn't calming things down. Barely feels like "cleansing," which is the point.

Tools & Extras

Not required, but they change how well everything above actually works. This is what I use to take products off, add a little exfoliation, or just make the whole routine feel less like a chore.

How I actually take the balm cleansers off. So much better than a washcloth.

Light exfoliation without the actives-on-actives situation. Good for days my skin can handle a little more.

The splurge on this list. Not necessary, but if you want one, this is the one I'd actually vouch for.
